Banana and Chocolate Milk

A smooth, sweet banana and chocolate milk drink.  Suitable for young children and adults, this is a quick, delicious afternoon drink.

Dietary: Suitable for e.g. vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free, egg-free

Contains; Soya (soya milk)

May contain milk (cocoa powder)

Preparation time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS

500 ml unsweetened fortified soya milk
1 banana
1 Tbsp cocoa powder

 

METHOD

  1. Place all ingredients into the smoothie blender.
  2. Blend for 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Pour and serve.

NUTRITION FACTS

  • No added sugar. Research suggests that a lower intake of added sugar may lower the risk of obesity and cardiovascular disease.
  • Low in fat, low in saturated fat. Research suggests that lowering saturated fat intake could lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol.
  • Make sure you use fortified soya milk to replace other nutrients normally in cows’ milk, such as calcium and iodine.
  • Some fortified soya kinds of milk also have vitamin D and Vitamin B12 added.

VARIATIONS

  • Alternatives to bananas can be used, such as raspberries or strawberries, but this may alter the consistency and sweetness.
  • Plant-based drinks could be replaced with cow’s milk.
