Spiced Apple Bobs

Spiced Apple Bobs

Named after a traditional Halloween game, recently harvested apples are abundant in late autumn. This is a child-friendly version of mulled wine or mulled cider. Adding a garnish should make the mini party animals feel very grown-up!

Serves: 8

Dietary: vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, milk-free,

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes gentle heating

INGREDIENTS

1 litre apple juice
500 ml tap water
1 red apple, cut into wedges, core removed but the skin on
1 orange, sliced
A mixture of cloves, star anise, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods to taste.

METHOD

  1. Place all ingredients into a pan.
  2. Heat gently for 30 minutes. (The drink should not be allowed to get hot enough to burn, but warming gently for 30 minutes will allow the flavours to infuse the liquid).
  3. If you prefer, strain the spices out before serving.
  4. Serve, including a piece of fruit in each glass.
